A common basis for all disciplines
Engineering, sales, design, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, purchasing, service and project management work closely together at Carbotech. To make collaboration between departments more efficient and further automate workflows, the company looked for a suitable engineering system.
“Engineering Base (EB) from AUCOTEC proved to be the right solution. In the past, process flow diagrams were created by the design department and subsequently reviewed by the process engineers. With interdisciplinary EB, the Engineering department now handles the entire flow diagram creation process. This allows us to use personnel capacities much more efficiently,” explains Timo Zimmermann, Head of the Engineering Team.
Using data to accelerate processes
When process flow diagrams are created, Engineering Base automatically generates lists containing the data of the components used. This information forms the basis for subsequent work steps and supports data exchange between the departments involved. As a result, potential sources of error can be reduced, processes accelerated and responsibilities assigned more clearly.
“By assigning unique numbers to components and linking them directly to their technical specifications, EB has all the necessary information for every component. This significantly reduces administrative effort and makes project-specific technical design around 40% more efficient on average,” says Zimmermann.
The faster project workflow also frees up capacity for other important tasks, such as coordination with suppliers and customers.

For Carbotech, standardization is just as important as more efficient processes.
